Japan: Kid-Friendly Mall Welcomes Disney Store, Fall Opening
Saitama is getting a new Disney Store this autumn, DisKingdom.com has learned. Home to 112,211 residents, the city is Fujimi is also home to LaLaport FUJIMI, a major mall with 293 stores, one of which will soon be a lot more magical.
The store is currently hiring. Employee training is scheduled for September 1st, 5th, and 6th, which hints that the opening may be in early- to mid-September.
Mall features “Kids Terrace”
Along with 293 shops, which include a movie theatre, LaLaport FUJIMI includes an “open-air square and park with a running course, dog run, barbeque areas, and other facilities, Lalaport Fujimi is in harmony with the verdant surrounding environment of the great expanse of nature.”
Along with extensive local retail, the mall is home to HMV, Toys”R”Us, Hollister, ZARA, Levi’s, Banana Republic, Oakley, Diesel, Lacoste, The GAP, among others. The second floor features a “Kids Terrace” section, which includes a range of shops like Coro Coro Secret Base based on a popular kids’ magazine, a LEGO Certified Store, and game area Kidsplaza Chaland.
More about the job
The job listing says employees will do “customer service, stocking shelves, cash register work,” promising “these are all simple tasks, so even those new to customer service can feel at ease, no experience necessary.”
Saitama’s minimum wage is ¥1,141 an hour, $7.05 USD, $10 CAD. This location of Disney Store pays a part timers a starting wage of ¥1,160 an hour, which is $7.17 USD, or $10.17 CAD. Full time staff receive ¥1,560 and up, $9.64 USD, or $13.67 CAD. A positive surprise, though, is that they partially reimburse transportation expenses.
Intriguingly, while cast gets discounts at Disney Stores in Japan, it seems that their free tickets to Disney Parks and discounts at Disney-owned hotels are only overseas.
