Donald Duck #8 Comic Book Review

Just in time to get Disney fans ready for Christmas, issue #8 of Donald Duck features 2 Christmas themed stories featuring our favourite Duck.   The main story is called “Spaced Out Christmas” from Italian Topolino 1569, 1985 and the second story is called “Counterfeit Christmas” from Dutch Donald Duck 17/2002, and both stories are new to the USA.

Spaced Out Christmas is a lovely Christmas story where Uncle Scrooge and the nephews try to cheer Donald up with an alliterate scheme involving a flying saucer and aliens, that I really enjoyed and it was nice to see Donald Duck being looked after by this family. I loved the classic black and white scenes showing why Donald Duck is feeling pretty low as it works so well using this style. I really enjoyed this story, especially for Christmas.

Counterfeit Christmas sees Gearloose invent a 3D copier and Donald tries to help out the local community around Christmas time by setting up in a Pawnshop, but as expected something doesn’t go exactly right with the Beagle Boys using the copier to print money which doesn’t go down too well with the police. A nice solid story that is enjoyable to read.

With two feel good Christmas stories in this issue, #8 is another great option for Disney fans and for comic book readers who want something uplifting for Christmas or even a perfect Christmas stocking filler for the kids.
