What Does Kylo Ren & A Cat Have in Common?

Kylo Ren is the newest Star Wars villain to hit the scene and he’s been a big hit with the fans of the franchise. Kylo is the Main villain in the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. So you would think he owes quite a bit of loyalty to the Dark side of the force, right?

Well you would be surprisingly wrong in a way!

Kylo owes quite a bit to A CAT! To be more specific, Kylo Ren’s Force Rumble sound is actually the sound of a cat purring.

Supervisor and Sound Editor and Designer for the film, David Accord, explained in an interview that “It’s a heavily pitched and slowed version of my cat’s purring that becomes the kylo ren rumble.”  Accord also discussed other sound effects that he worked on for the film. He actually goes on to say that some sounds were taken from Lucasfilm properties. “When the rathtar is rolling down the hallway after Han and Chewie, I put in the sound of Ben Burtt’s boulder roll sound from Raiders of the Lost Ark when the boulder is chasing Indy,” he said.

Such interesting insight into the making of the film but nonetheless we have to thank Accord’s cat for helping make Kylo Ren even more intimidating.
