The Future of Agents of SHIELD
After an explosive conclusion to this season, the Agents will be moving into new territory. This fall the show will be moving to ABC’s 10pm timeslot on Tuesday. Beginning its run at 8pm, the show has steadily climbed up the timeslots as the content has become increasingly more adult. Although ABC President, Channing Dungey said that “less about moving SHIELD to 10 and more feeling we had a big bench of comedies. The schedule kind of fell into place in that way.” It does however give the creative crew behind the show a bit more leeway to take the series into even darker territory.
That’s not the only new thing coming to our team at SHIELD. The final episode included a time jump which found the team somewhat fractured: Coulson is once again an Agent and no longer Director; Daisy is on her own under the moniker of Quake and seems to be helping others in her own way; and Fitz seems to working with Dr. Radcliffe on a new project dubbed LMD.
The start of the LMD Project is perhaps the biggest tease for next season as fans of Marvel comics will recognize this acronym as Life Model Decoy. These robot doubles have been around in the comics since 1965 and have for the most part linked to Nick Fury and SHIELD. More recently during the Original Sin arc, Nick Fury was revealed to have been using LMDs for decades on Earth while he remained secluded in space. It remains to be seen what they will be used for in SHIELD but Dr Radcliff hopes to spare the lives of more people but using this project. Robot doubles of SHIELDs field agents?
Look for more Agents of SHIELD when it returns for season 4 this Fall at 10pm.
