First Look At Disney Infinity’s Peter Pan Figure

Last summer at the Disney Infinity Toy Box Summit, the toy box master artists decided on bringing Peter Pan to the game and that it would be coming this summer.  Sadly with the game being cancelled, we will never get to have the figure, but some concept art shows what the figure looked like and it looks fantastic.

So instead of this we get the crappy Through the looking glass figures and Finding Dory? No wonder the game was scrapped.

That Peter Pan looks absolutely killer! That would surely have sold by the bucket load, such short sightedness on the behalf of the top executives at Disney. You have to expect dips in sales with a product like Disney Infinity, it has three different franchise to cater for and each will have it’s own fanbase. Only people like myself will invest in everything but I strongly believe that one of Disney’s biggest failings was their own failure to recognise the power of it’s own IP. Where was a Play Set for Aladdin, that could have come with one of two figures either Genie or Jaffar and the other one sold as a stand alone figure. And if they were smart it would have been Genie as the stand alone figure. Seeing this Peter Pan Figure and you have got think, Hook, Wendy, Smee etc and another Play Set is born in our imaginations. And finally what the hell were they thinking by not making some knock out Play Set starring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto! Or even come to think of it figures of Goofy and Pluto! They could have done Goofy at least and Pluto was certainly doable just watch Spot’s animations as a guide. The Critter Crawl is Pluto’s walk, just put a wagging tail on it adjust the colour and replace hands and feet with paws and chuck on Pluto’s head and you’re nearly there! AND the third animation in Spot’s melee combo the one where he fires up dirt by digging in the ground. Well imagine taking that as a basis for Pluto’s special move but ramp it up, he turns and digs the same, but digs up items that hit the enemies and deals damage, say a flower pot, an old boot for the lower impact but as you improve the skill tree you start digging up bigger items. These could have been a old golf bag full of snapped/broken clubs discarded by Sports Goofy, a steamboat’s navigation wheel from Mickey’s past, an old lost compact of Minnie’s, a coiled mainspring from Donald’s clock cleaning past and lastly a big dinosaur bone! And as he would have been the first playable character to be on all fours he would have been unique and he is a dog and most people go nuts for dogs. AND it could have been fun in two player if his pick up animation was to have the other player ride on him like a mount. Donald in a Musketeer costume riding around the french countryside, Goofy trying his hand at dressage, he couldn’t find a horse so he enrolled Pluto as a substitute. But what do I know anyway…these are all things that have popped into my head whilst typing…

That Peter Pan figure to me highlights the biggest lost opportunity by Disney, it’s failure to tap into it’s own vast history and instead put everything on new film franchises/reboots that people understandably are unused/reluctant to buy on release, i.e. waiting to see if they like the film etc will hold back on. And lets not forget people were and are still discovery Disney Infinity. Yes Disney you had overstock, but that stock given long enough would still have found it’s way out into the marketplace. You hold it in inventory till it’s in demand is all, I came into DI 3.0 in January, I own every figure released, every play set, every power disc, I am one of the exceptions who will buy every single release, not everyone has that level of compulsion to do so. That is why you don’t overlook your own brand and your own back catalogue! Beauty and the Beast, people would have gone nuts for Belle and the Beast from the animated version! Snow White, with a dopey and the witch to kick start that line. I won’t keep adding to the list…

Well done Bob Iger…Way to go, I hope Shanghai doesn’t let you down after all the money that’s been sunk into the project, oh I forgot it won’t be long before that becomes another SEP.

    Somebody Else’s Problem!

Sorry for the rant I was only going to say how good Peter Pan looked, I mean really REALLY GOOD, I MEAN SPECTACULAR GOOD! And it brought all these thoughts to mind…thinks to self…and relax!

By the way I think as well as a petition and letters to Bob Iger members of the community should submit Toy Boxes to Disney. Just use a creator to make a box, no need to populate or make anything fancy. Name it and add the hashtag #SaveDisneyInfinity, there are two moderators still curating and approving toy boxes. If one person that signed the online petition were to submit a box each with that tag imagine what the impact would be. Show them that the community is still very much active. Remember the Toy Box doesn’t have to be anything special, use a creator tool, don’t pad it out with challenges or anything like that (unless you want to of course!) save it. Go to the Online/Multiplayer menu, Community Content, Submit to Disney, select the toy box you made/created and upload it! Show them you are there! Let this go out with a bang provided by the community! Not this damp squib of a whimper with the Dory play set lite™, the figures for Dory and Nemo, but the length of depth of story and their implementation of the characters into the Toy Box was lacking proper thought, imho.

    AND RELAX!
