DuckTales Disney Infinity Blue Sky
With the news that new DuckTales cartoons will be made for Disney Xd in 2017, a lot of us have been talking about DuckTales becoming part of Disney Infinity in the future. I, for one, have loved DuckTales since I was a “lil’ laddie” when the show originally appeared in the late 80’s. The more I thought about it, the more I felt like this lent itself to a new Disney Infinity Blue Sky.
DuckTales Play Set
Synopsis
Merlock, the main villain from DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, is back to steal Scrooge’s fortune and power by assembling Collie Baba’s legendary Golden Scepter, pieces of which have been spread throughout time and space. Merlock has enlisted a bunch of the DuckTales-universe villians to track down the pieces. It is up to Scrooge McDuck and company to stop them.
Play Set Layout
The main area is Duckberg, where Ma Beagle and her Beagle Boys are creating chaos. Duckworth, Mrs. Beakley, Webigail, Heuy, Dewey, Louie, and Gyro Gearloose are trying to keep the peace. In addition, Gyro is helping to further the story by opening up some portals that allows for the bending of time and space.
Outside of Duckberg, various locals will be visited in order to find the pieces of the Golden Scepter and fight off Merlock’s minions.
~ Transylvania: Magica De Spell
~ African Diamond Mine: Flintheart Glomgold
~ Jurassic-era Duckberg: T-Rex
~ St. Cannard: Negaduck
~ Final Battle- Pyramid Lair: Merlock
Playable Characters
Scrooge McDuck
Obviously the Play Set needs to have Scrooge. Attacks with his cane… and not as a pogo stick like in the classic NES game. Melee attack using it as a club type weapon. Can also throw it like a boomerang.
Launchpad McQuack
Mr. D’s right hand man… er, duck. Launchpad, to me, seems like he could have some melee fighting skills. Also, he could throw a wrench as a weapon. Launchpad also appeared in Darkwing Duck, which is a plus.
Donald Duck (Disney Infinity 2.0)
This is a no brainer. Bring in the main duck, currently part of Disney Infinity 2.0. He would be a perfect fit.
Gizmoduck
Made popular by being in both DuckTales and Darkwing Duck, Gizmoduck can be the “flyer” of the Play Set. Being equipped with lazers doesn’t hurt either.
Darkwing Duck
Yes, I said Darkwing Duck. He is part of the DuckTales-universe. Characters and villains cross over in the TV series. It is rumored that DuckTales will make appearances in the new Darkwing Duck comic book. It’s even possible that Darkwing will be in the new DuckTales cartoons. So, it makes it logical that the caped crusader is in this Play Set.
Darkwing, of course, has his gun. Yes, it’s already a Power Disc, but that’s not an issue (see Stitch in 2.0). Also, Darkwing could have the web-slinging ability made popular by Spider-Man in 2.0.
Merlock
Obviously it would follow tradition that the main villain in the Play Set gets a figures. It would also give a bigger role for the character’s famous voice actor, Christopher Lloyd.
Play Set Crystal
I could think of nothing better for the Play Set crystal as Scrooge McDuck’s Money Bin.
Team-Up Power Discs
Huey, Dewey, & Louie
While I cannot see these three as playable characters, I can totally see their antics as a Team-Up, using their “marbles” in tough situations.
Bubba the Cave Duck
A fan favorite from the original TV series, Bubba the Cave Duck would be an awesome Team-Up.
Costume Power Disc
Negaduck
An overlay fro Darkwing Duck to turn him into his evil “clone” Negaduck. Also, part of me just wants to be able to fight my friends in the Toy Box to see who is better, Darkwing Duck or Negaduck.
Event Power Discs
Magica’s Shadow Curse
An event power disc where Magica De Spell’s shadow is released to damage surrounding opponents.
Bubba Duck’s Rage
An event power disc where rocks, boulders, and maybe a couple of small dinosaurs are unleashed onto the enemy.
Vehicle Power Discs
Scrooge’s Limo
Self explanatory.
Launchpad’s Plane
Because it is a must.
Tootsie the Triceratops
Yes, so Bubba and Tootsie are favorites of mine. I want to include them as much as possible.
Well, there you have it. My Disney Infinity Blue Sky for DuckTales. Thoughts? We would love to hear them. Let us know. Join us over at the Infinity and Beyond Facebook group for the discussion.
