Disney Infinity 3.0 Live Twitch Toy Box TV Show #4 Recap
This weeks recap on Toy Box TV Live on Twitch…
- JV discussed his experience at Pre E3 in Santa Monica, Pre E3 in London, and the recent press event at Pixar Studios showing off the new Inside Out playset.
- JV has confirmed that he cried 4 times during the Inside Out movie so if you are planning to see the movie, bring tissues!
- It has been established that Allison plays video games all day for work, at least on Wednesdays. Congratulations to all the Pixie Hollow challenge winners!
- They said they would be demoing some 3.0 content on this episode.
First we got to see the Twilight of the Republic playset.
- Matt Sollie demoed the Twilight of the Republic playset while JV and Allison asked questions.
- They have not announced all the characters for the Twilight of the Republic playset, which means MORE FIGURES!!!
- There’s this new combat feature that is kid friendly where the combat slightly pauses and your lightsaber flares up which allows you to hit the combo button again to add special moves to your gameplay and a more effective attack.
- All the characters have their own unique combo attacks.
- Cross over coins are scattered strategically to allow for other characters to be played in the playset.
- All Star Wars characters can cross over and are playable in the Twilight of the Republic playset, you’ll just have to find their corresponding tokens.
- Even though Darth Maul is already announced as a figure belonging to the Twilight of the Republic playset, they did assign a cross over token to him for story purposes. Matt explained that it wouldn’t make sense to have a Sith immediately playable in a story about Jedi fighting off the Droids in the beginning of the game.
- Estimated game play length is 6-8 hours.
- During the friendly banter Matt was having with JV, Matt said, and I quote, “….is one of the five playsets we have announced so far.” Key words there are “so far!” Let the rumors begin yet again!
- Darth Maul has less horns on his head for design reasons (as we’ve seen in previous videos).
- They worked closely with Lucas Film to make sure everything was up to their standards.
- The game will be available via digital download at launch. That being said, the Twilight of the Republic playset will be available and sold separately from the starter pack.
- Matt is on the Rebels side (Booo).
- Matt also teased that he is way more excited about the Force Awakens playset. They were “hush hush” after that.
They then dove into the Inside Out playset.
- They brought on Dave Mernick to demo the Inside Out playset.
- Dave mentioned that the Luxo lamp on the Pixar Studio campus actually lights up at night.
- The load up screen is actually the “headquarters” in the movie.
- When they were demoing the game at Pixar Studios for the press event, some of the actual movie animators and designers who created the “headquarters” in Inside Out were excited and loved seeing the headquarters in the game.
- This playset is a completely different experience then the Twilight of the Republic playset.
- The Inside Out playset is a platformer/puzzle game with not much combat.
- There are 3D levels as well as side scroller levels.
- Sadness can walk on clouds.
- Anger can walk on lava.
- Fear can run really fast.
- Disgust can jump really high.
- Joy can hover after she jumps.
- This playset is based off of Imagination Land from the movie.
- The premiss of this playset is Riley (the little girl in the movie; the main character) has a nightmare and it scatters all her memories in her head. Its up the the emotions to gather the memories and put them back into the main headquarters. This playset takes place after the events from the movie. Kind of like a sequel.
- Balloons are fun!
- Balloons come in many colors and they add a collection aspect to the game. They also include sparks within them.
- They also added a timed feature to this game, so it adds very good replay value.
- They also have a hidden item collection feature which adds more of a scavenger hunt aspect to the game, and yet again more replay value.
- The hidden items are Memory Manuals which unlock power-ups for the mini games and Idea Bulbs which unlock toys for your toy box.
- You do not need all the figures to play this game. They added a cool new feature that allows you to switch costumes and play as the other emotions for 30 seconds, to allow you to reach certain parts of the levels, without having to buy all the figures.
- They said that they are not sure if all the new things in the playset will be available in the toy box, like for example the lava or clouds. They aren’t sure at this point.
- The characters change the colors of the memory orbs and certain things from the level based on their emotion. Example: Anger turns orbs red.
- The two player option does not split the screen. it keeps you together in the same screen.
- There are 25 different levels in this playset. They do get progressively harder the further you go.
- Lewis Black and Phyllis did voice their emotions in the game as well.
- There is this new game mechanic that flips you upside down in some of the new side-scroller levels. Adds a great new element to the game play!
- Some levels have musicality challenges, switch box challenges, and many puzzles!
- Brocoli is an enemy in the game (and in real life for some).
- Pixar has been amazing to work with on development of this playset.
- Lots of the Toy Box TV staff do not like Asparagus. I agree with Matt Sollie though, just wrap it in bacon!
- Difficulty can not be increased or decreased in this playset. Its already set.
- Memory bulbs open up gates in the game…and apparently has something to do with major plot points in the movie (spoiler alert?).
- The ranged attacks for the characters are relatively the same as they throw orbs, but their melee attacks are very unique.
- There will be boss battles in the Inside Out playset.
They did finish the webcast by telling us to tune in next week as they were going to have some special guests on the show, as well as reveal some new information!
