Mickey Mouse #4 Comic Book Review
This week sees the release of issue 4/313 of the Mickey Mouse comic book and this months comic comes with a very strong single story called “Gift of the Sun Lord” which was originally from Italian Topolino #2565 (2005) but has now been translated for an English reading audience for the first time. It’s great to see such a mix up of different styles and eras in these Disney comic books, as this comic book features a modern story which even had a Skype call and a older story from the 50’s which is a single page story called “Baa Humbug” from Mickey Mouse 61 (1958) which is a nice touch and gave me a laugh.
The main story “Gift of the Sun Lord”, sees Mickey and Goofy travel to Mexico to find a long lost Mayan temple which quickly leads to high jinx with Peg Leg Pete and plenty of laughs and adventure along the way. I really enjoyed this story as it was a nice little reminder of when I visited some Mayan temples while traveling around Central America in my 20’s, so maybe that slightly swayed me to being much more interested in this story, but I’m sure people will love seeing Mickey Mouse and Goofy on their adventures which involve quicksand, a leopard, a helicopter crash plus much more. These comic books really show what Mickey Mouse is all about, he isn’t just a logo or an icon, but a lovable character that can be funny and adventurous all in the same story.
Mickey Mouse #4 also features a special variant cover featuring Mickey, Minnie & Pluto riding the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction at the theme parks. I love the idea of doing Disney park variant covers for us Disney fans.
Will you be adding this comic book to your collection?
