Mickey Mouse #5 Comic Book Review
Mickey Mouse Issue #5 features just a single story called The Ghost of Man-Eater Mountain, Which was originally from Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories 129-132 (1951) .
This long story sees Mickey Mouse and Goofy head to a ski resort, which obviously ends up leading Mickey and Goofy, getting caught up in a bigger plot. The mountain is apparently haunted and people are going missing, something sounds off and Mickey starts to investigate. Leading him through a variety of mischief, while working out what is going on. Eventually, Mickey solves the mystery and works out what is really going on, which doesn’t go down well with the criminals.
As all good stories go, Mickey solves the mystery and helps out the criminals away, with some humour and crime solving along the way. Making this story interesting and with a different tone to many Mickey Mouse stories. This story could have easily been a Scooby Doo cartoon and that’s not a bad thing.
This issue includes some variant covers including a awesome Haunted Mansion version featuring the Singing Busts with Mickey Mouse. I’m a big fan of these Disneyland edition variants which are a must for diehard Disney fans.
While a selection of stories is something I prefer with my Disney comics, this one story is a great read and very enjoyable. There are a few laugh out loud moments and a interesting large story with Mickey as an investigator/crime solver is more fun than just being a icon of a company. A great read and worth checking out.
