Mickey Mouse #6 Comic Book Review

IDW Publishing have released their latest Mickey Mouse comic book, #6 (315), and it features 2 classic Mickey Mouse stories. This issue also has a lovely bright and colourful Toontown variant featuring Mickey and Pluto.

The first story is called “Plan Dine From Outer Space” from Italian Topolino 2845, 2010, which is new to the USA. This features a time traveller called Egga Beeva and the story sees the moon is discovered to be a fake while a mystery alien race steals the moon to save their planet from a huge planet eating worm who is eating planets. Mickey and Egga have to fix the situation and save the world. This is certainly a different story from the usual crime stopping Mickey and is a welcome change, it could almost be pulled from a Marvel super hero book and I really enjoyed it.

The second story is called “Relative Genius” from Goofy Four Colour 564, 1954 and features Goofy’s bright nephew Gilbert comes to stay and makes Goofy feel silly and stupid, only for Mickey to come up with a plan to help Goofy. It’s a interesting story that is very different and more human than the first story, but still with a few funny moments.

The main story involving a planet eating worm is a excellent and is a personal highlight from recent IDW Disney comics.
