Mickey Mouse #7 Comic Book Review
IDW Publishing’s latest Mickey Mouse comic book is getting us into the Christmas spirit with half of this issues story featuring a Christmas themed. Issue 7 features 4 stories, 3 of which have never been seen in the USA and all feature your favourite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy and many more.
The main story from this issue is called “The Christmas Tree Crimes” from Italian Topolino 370, 1962. It features a storyline involving crooks stealing all the town’s Christmas trees and sees Mickey and the gang try to stop the thieves. Its a interesting story and it wasn’t clear from the get go, what exactly the thieves were up to, which made it much more enjoyable. A really solid detective story that I enjoyed reading.
The next story is called “A Goofy Look at Snow” from Dutch Donald Duck 50/2008 and I love the animation style for this comic book, it’s very crisp and bright, plus its nice to see Goofy in a solo story that made me chuckle.
Sandwiched between two modern strips, is “A Pot Shot” from British Mickey Mouse Annual 1, 1930, which is so different and I love the little bit of history included in these comic books, which gives older fans like myself a look at how the characters have changed throughout the years.
And the final story is called “While We Were Waiting” from Danish Anders And & Co. 39/2012. This is another great detective story featuring Mickey Mouse as he recalls what has happened in previous adventures with Pegleg Pete, while they wait for the police to arrive to arrest Pete.
This issue of Mickey Mouse is very “detective” based and the holiday story was a lot of fun, but it was “Goofy’s Look At Snow” that was a highlight. Another great collection of Disney classic stories for old and young fans alike.
