Donald Duck #9 Comic Book Review
Issue 9 of IDW Publishing’s Donald Duck features two stories that haven’t been printed in the USA before, “Tycoonraker” from Italian Almanacco Topolino 142, 1968 and “Crisis at the Colosseum” from Icelandic Andrés Önd 7/2009.
The first story is called “Tycoonraker” and is a James Bond spoof, with Donald Duck trying to stop Mad Dr Zantaf from using a gas to get Uncle Scrooge to give him his money. Its a fun read and good to see Donald Duck in the spy role with plenty of gags and a really enjoyable story. It was also great to see Daisy Duck get involved in a useful way and I liked the whole Gyro Gearsloose as “Q” idea and thought the whole story was a joy to read.
The second story is called “Crisis at the Colosseum” and sees Donald Duck trying to protect the local cinema from closing by becoming the Duck Avenger! Another great story featuring the Duck’s and showing how Uncle Scrooge can drift from hero to villain so quickly.
This issue of Donald Duck features 2 solid stories that are a great read, I personally preferred “Tycoonraker” as the spy theme was interesting and more funny.
Another great read for Donald Duck fans and the variant cover featuring Donald and his nephews in a Pirates of the Caribbean theme is another classic worth checking out for Disney park fans.
