Lin Manuel Miranda to Star in Mary Poppins Sequel

It was just announced that Lin Manuel Miranda, known notably for his hit musical “Hamilton” and for writing music for Disney’s upcoming Princess film “Moana”, has been cast to star in the Mary Poppins Sequel opposite Emily Blunt.

He will not be playing Bert but instead a character named Jack who is a lamplighter.

It is important to note that this film is not a direct remake of Disney’s 1964 film starring Julie Andrews. This film will focus on the other books from the Mary Poppins series from 1934-1988.

Miranda will also be writing a few songs for this film as well.
