Finding Dory Set To Open To $130 Million

Finding Dory is set to have a record breaking $130 million opening weekend following early estimates.  With the movie playing in 4305 cinemas in North America, it is set to open to over $50 million on its opening day, which includes $9.2 million from the Thursday night, which is the biggest debut of a animated film.

The most conservative estimates on Friday were in the $115 million to $130 million range, it’s expected that the NBA final on Sunday may bring down the overall number.  If Finding Dory hits $130, it will be one of the top 20 domestic openings of all time.  Online ticket service Fandango reported this week that “Finding Dory” had become its top pre-selling animated movie ever.   It is set to open in other regions over the coming weeks.
