Disney LongBox Reviews : Disney Princess #4
It’s that time again to be our guest with another Disney Princess review. That’s right, the best selling title is back with another stunning illustrated issue full of wonderfully written stories featuring some of our favourite Disney heroines from the last 70 years.
TIANA IN TRYOUTS
Lottie visits Tiana at her restaurant to arrange a little rendez vous with eligible bachelors throughout New Orleans. Tiana agrees but on one condition: She chaperones all of the dates to insure no one takes advantage of her or her fortune after what happened with the Shadow Man.
First up is a con man who tries to sell her on a line of railroads throughout town but Tiana tells her there are already tracks on the map. The date turns sour when he mentions needing a sweet investment as Louis prepares to escort him out.
The next date seems like a keeper since he donates heavily to orphanages but his hatred of puppies ruined his chances to get with Lottie.
I fell asleep when the third date started talking so don’t remember much sadly
Last up is Travis, you know, Travis from the dance and the party in the film ? You don’t remember him ? Uhhhh how unfortunate.
Tiana and Lottie soon run out of bachelors as the two decide to spend time together instead.
MERIDA IN SNEAKING
Merida removes dirt from her shoes near her mother as she tells her a princess must be quieter in the castle. She uses this to her advantage to sneak out of the castle.
CINDERELLA IN MY FAIR GRAND DUKE
Our story begins when the King is forced to attend a meeting with the Grand Duke, the King is furious since it would interfere with his bird watching.
Cinderella suggests coming along so he doesn’t get distracted during the meeting since he can’t pay attention that well.
The meeting goes about as well as you would expect with the Grand Duke and the King bickering as the next day, Cinderella offers to teach the King how to be a more gracious meeting attendee.
The lesson doesn’t go that well as the Grand Duke decides to attend to see the improvements as the two resume their old ways during the discussion much to the disappointment of Cinderella.
However, she has taken on a new student.
AURORA IN NATURE WALK
Aurora decides to go on a walk to the woods as Phillip decides to come along. The two run into a few situations such as an apple with a worm inside, slippery rocks,a sighting of a rare white wagtail, ants and of course fleas. Quite an hilarious tale indeed.
RAPUNZEL IN RAINY DAY
It’s another new day for Rapunzel and Pascal. But rather than a sunny day in Corona,it’s a blustery rainy day.
Rapunzel finishes cleaning the floor as the ceiling starts to leak. She tries her best to cover them all to hilarious results
JASMINE IN CARPET SALE
Jasmine and Carpet are out visiting the Agrabah Bazaar as they see a carpet on sale which of course infuriates our sentient Carpet. Jasmine tries to cheer him up to no avail.
POCAHONTAS IN DREAM ROUTINE
Pocahontas and Meeko visit Grandmother Willow as Pocahontas tells her about another strange dream she is having (No spinning arrows this time sadly).
She tells her it started off on a hilltop as she watched some clouds, one shaped like the hill and the other shaped like her. She then tells her how Meeko was briefly in her dream as Grandmother Willow starts losing interest.
The next part of her dream has a mighty stag that can talk but it only wanted directions to the nearest river. Then she goes on about how she turned into an pine-cone and a leaf as Willow stops her and tells her an excuse to make her stop.
BELLE IN TUMBLEWEEDS
Simple joke about the West Wing not being cleaned in a long time. Moving on
MULAN IN DEFENSIVE TRAINING
Today’s lesson involves defence as the trio tries to impress Mulan. Ling goes first as he doesn’t want to tackle Mulan but a few insults from her later, he charges at her like a train, but he misses and quickly gets defeated by Mulan telling the others to not let your ego take over in a fight.
Next up is range weapon defence as Yao tries to counter her but his anger leads him to being flung like a swan across the field.
Last is armed combat as Chien-Po barely moves as Mulan tries to get him to defend himself as his mass is too much for her as she soon tires out.
One lesson was learned from all of this, only fight the fights you absolutely must.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Much improved from the last issue. One point I do love is that each story has their own title now, I found it hard to come up with titles for my last review since I like to keep each segment separate in these reviews.
Much more longer stories in this issue, this is something I’ve wanted, while I do love the shorter stories, they don’t really tell much of a story. These stories are very well scripted and are in character and represents the source material well.
Only negative is that a third of the book is filled with ads. While it’s better than a forced in Cinestory preview, it still feels like a waste of space.
