Marvel Battlegrounds Creators United Front Games Shuts Down
Reports have been circulating online that United Front Games, who created Marvel Battlegrounds for Disney Infinity 3.0, has closed down. The company is based in Vancouver and was created in 2007. As well as Marvel Battlegrounds for Disney Infinity 3.0, the company also created Sleeping Dogs, LittleBigPlanet Karting and the Halo: Master Chief Collection.
While the company has yet to formally announce its closure, rumours of the demise has been leaking out over the past 24 hours and have been reported on by every major gaming news outlet.
Here is a tweet from United Front Games producer Jen Timms, seeming to confirm the news:
Currently mourning the best job I’ve ever had, and the most wonderful team I’ve ever worked with.
The end of a great era.
Goodbye, UFG.— SCAREless Jen (@Scarlettjen) October 18, 2016
Our Take:
It’s such a shame to hear of a games company closing down and its unclear as if the decision to shutdown Disney Infinity had a long term impact on the company, since we don’t know if they were working on other projects. Its a shame for everybody involved within the company and fingers crossed they find employment in other companies soon.
