Review: POTC: Dead Men Tell No Tales Minimates & Vinimates (Diamond Select)

For today’s review, I take a look at the recent release of the Minimates and Vinimates collections for the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales movie from Diamond Select Toys. Featuring characters from the movie, the Minimates collection consists of four 2-pack of characters, while three figures make up the Vinimates collection. Let’s check them out.

 

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Minimates

In this collection, we have Jack Sparrow & Barbossa, Young Jack Sparrow & Salazar, Ghost Salazar & Cursed Will Turner, and Henry & Carina (the short packed, and therefore rarest, set of the four).

This collection is pretty light on accessories, with only four out of the eight figures having a sword. The other figures do not have any accessories.

I do like that Diamond Select included two versions of Captain Salazar (both before and after death), but the Young Jack Sparrow Minimate is pretty weird and creepy.

Overall, it’s another fun collection from Diamond Select. It’s also straight-forward in term of collecting them, as there are no special figures that are store exclusives at locations like Toys ‘R’ Us and Walgreens. This collection is a retail wide release.

 

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Vinimates

This Vinimates collection features the three main Captains in the movie: Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and Salazar (in ghost form). All three of these figures are in the Vinimates style: a large scale, non-articulated version of Minimates.

I think Diamond Select hit it out of the park with this Vinimates collection. I love the look of all three of the characters. The stance and look of the characters are iconic and a perfect representation of the movie.

Overall, I feel that Diamond Select did a really great job with both of these collections, but especially the Vinimates. Perfect for any POTC fan.
