Many Disney Roles for Celebrity Guests at 2018 Fan Expo Canada
Toronto pop culture convention Fan Expo Canada has announced three cast members of The Princess Bride, each with deep Disney connections, will appear at their event. This week, organizers announced the Cary Elwes, Chris Sarandon, and Wallace Shawn were all set to appear at the August 2018 event.
Wallace Shawn has given his iconic voice to Rex from Toy Story and characters in A Goofy Movie, The Incredibles, and Chicken Little, along with appearing live in My Favorite Martian and The Haunted Mansion. He’s voice acted for Disney TV series including Stanley, Teacher’s Pet, and Teamo Supremo.
Sarandon is the voice of Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas, and all of the Jack’s many other video game and ride appearances.
Elwes has voiced roles in the television series Hercules: The Animated Series and Sofia the First, and appeared in Disney’s 1994 film Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, and Miramax’s Ella Enchanted, among other Disney roles.
Disney had a Broadway stage musical production of The Princess Bride in planning as of 2013, but there has been a lack of updates since 2014.
A variety of previously announced guests have Disney connections. Among them are Marvel movie stars announced is Jeff Goldblum, who plays Grandmaster (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok), and Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula (Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers 4).
The event will have a rare reunion of the Back to the Future cast, including Michael J. Fox (Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, Midnight Madness, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, etc), Christopher Lloyd (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Angels in the Outfield, Ducktales the Movie, etc), Lea Thompson (Penn Zero: Part Time Hero, Greek, Dancing with the Stars, The Muppets), and Thomas F. Wilson (Atlantis: Milo’s Return, Gargoyles, Pepper Ann, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command).
