Deadpool 2 Soundtrack Review
As you would expect from anything Deadpool related, the soundtrack is filled with a range of different experiences, offering epic over the top songs like “Ashes”, full on action tracks and comedy moments.
The biggest track on the album has to be “Ashes” by Celine Dion, it’s completely over the top and the team behind the movie know it, especially with how it is used in a James Bond style opening scene and in the music video. It’s easy to scoff at Celine Dion, but she delivers another epic ballad that I loved.
You couldn’t have Deadpool without some bad humour and this soundtrack has a few moments that can’t help but make me laugh. The completely over the top “You Can’t Stop”, with a full choir is hilariously funny and takes aim at the big epic CGI fights in movies. Other comedy tracks include the “Deadpool Rap” that is a lot of fun. And I always laughed whenever “Tomorrow” comes on.
I’m a big fan of country music and now every time I hear “9 to 5”, I just keep thinking of the opening montage of Deadpool going on a rampage as a hero from the movie. I loved the song before the movie and this is a perfect addition to the album.
Another one of my favourite songs of all time is A-Ha’s “Take On Me”, so I really liked the alternative version included in this album. However I’d have preferred the original, but that wouldn’t have worked for that moment in the movie.
Other huge classic hits like Cher’s “Turn Back Time”, Air Supply’s “All Out Of Love” and Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” are other favourites from this album as these are simply fantastic songs from the 80’s, which is the era I grew up in.
And while I’m not the biggest dance music fan, I love the dub step parts of Bangarang, as it really helped bring the fight scenes come alive in the movie.
OVERALL: The Deadpool 2 Soundtrack is an odd ball collection of songs, there are some major hitting songs from huge stars like Cher, Dolly Parton and Celine Dion. It’s been really enjoyable listening to this album for the past few days going to work singing away to some classics!
