Review: Runaway Railway Wishables
Earlier this month before the nation/world went in to lock down, I had the chance of visiting Walt Disney World. While plans were made prior to its’ announced opening, I was able to experience the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction. Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Chinese Theatre (former home of The Great Movie Ride), this trackless ride is a beautiful dedication to the mice that started it all.
Along with the opening of the ride, various kinds of merchandise were released in the park. This included pins, t-shirts, ear hats, mugs, and a somewhat new (at least the craze is new to me) called Wishables.
Wishables are a newer collectible in the Disney Parks. A small plush collectible, most of the collections revolve around the blind bag format of collecting. With the Runaway Railway Set, each blind package includes one of four designs, with (at least) one Chase. Additionally, there is a plush sold outside of the blind bag packaging. Let’s take a look at this collection.
First up, here is a look at Engineer Goofy, the out of package plush who is sold on his own.
Next, here are the four plush located in the blind bag… well, five if you count the Chase I found.
Each Wishables costs $9.99, both the open edition ones and the blind bag ones. Some of the series, including lines celebrating the Disney Cruise Line and Space Mountain, are currently available over at ShopDisney.
Special thanks to my friend Jaqi, who helped me locate the ones in the set I was missing after I proved to be inept at feeling the packages for the different designs. Her daughter collects them, so Jaqi has become somewhat of a master in feeling for certain designs, which is fine by Disney. They actually promote the act of feeling the packages for the different designs, with Cast Members getting into the act as well.
Do you collect Wishables? What do you think of them? When the parks reopen, will you be trying to get the Runaway Railway ones? Let me know in the comments below.
