8 “Raya and the Last Dragon” Kids Books Announced, 8 Months Ahead of the Movie’s Release

We’re still eight months from the release of Raya and the Last Dragon, and we’ve only seen concept art. But we now know a bit about the first eight Raya books scheduled for store shelves. The title announcements come from Random House and their brands DK Publishing and Little Golden Book.

Each book’s official description includes this plot summary:

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ fantasy-action-adventure, Raya and the Last Dragon, introduces Raya, a lone warrior from the fantasy kingdom of Kumandra who teams up with a crew of misfits in her quest to find the Last Dragon and bring light and unity back to their world. Awkwafina lends her voice to Sisu, the Last Dragon, who was left on Earth in case dark forces return to the world, and Cassie Steele voices the lead character, Raya. Exploring themes of community and hope, and inspired by the beautiful and diverse cultures of Southeast Asia, the fantasy-action-adventure Raya and the Last Dragon opens in U.S. theaters on March 12th, 2021.

Raya and the Last Dragon was scheduled for a November 25, 2020 release, but was pushed back to March 12, 2021. Chronicle Books has also announced The Art of Raya and the Last Dragon, written by Moana producer Osnat Shurer and Walt Disney Animation Studios community relations manager Kaliko Hurley.
