Fan Expo Canada releases schedule: Disney, Marvel, Star Wars highlights
Canada’s largest pop culture convention is just days away, and the schedule has just dropped. What Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney programming is at this year’s Fan Expo Canada? We’ve combed through hundreds of listings to bring you the highlights including panels with top stars like Josh Gad, Rosario Dawson, and Marisa Tomei, and an exclusive sneak peak of what’s next from the Star Wars Outlaws video game.
Fan Expo Canada is at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from August 22 to 25.
Thursday, August 22
- Eight contestants compete for a crown at Bear Sailor Moon’s Disney Lip Sync Extravaganza, 11 am, Theatre 9. If you’d like to compete, show up a half-hour before the start, and you’ll be given time to practice a preset playlist.
- Tabletop Gaming Room 201 hosts X-Wing Miniatures: Open Play & Introductory Games, at 5 pm.
- He was the voice of Cassim in Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Viscount Mabrey in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, and Sallah in the Indiana Jones movies, among many other Disney credits. From Sallah to Gimli: A Journey with John Rhys-Davies is the highlight of the night, at 7:45 pm in Theatre 2.
- When he was at Marvel Comics, Carl Potts discovered top talents like Jim Lee, Wilce Portacio, and Mike Mignola. Check out Creating Comics: Inside the Art of Visual Storytelling with Carl Potts at 8 pm in Theatre 6.
- Activities:
- Theatre 6, Room 709 at 6:00 pm is Disney Karaoke. NEWLY UPDATED TIME
- Cosplay meetups: Light side and dark side converge at the Star Wars Cosplay Meetup, 4:15 pm on the Cosplay Red Carpet, North Foyer W. Any universe is welcome at the Comic Book Heroes Cosplay Meetup, 5:15 pm on the Cosplay Red Carpet, North Foyer W, but then at 5:45 pm, it’s exclusively the Marvel Universe Cosplay Meetup. There’s a general Cosplay Red Carpet at 6 pm.
Friday, August 23
- She’s voiced at least 77 Disney characters, according to The Disney Wiki, including Ingrid from Fillmore! and Miss Minutes for Marvel. Too Many to Count! All the Voices of Tara Strong is at 12:45 pm in Theatre 2, Room 206.
- Rodney Barnes has written for Marvel series including Lando: Double or Nothing and Falcon, and was a co-executive producer on Marvel Runaways. Head to Theatre 6, Room 713, at 2 pm for From Boondocks to Star Wars: Spotlight on Rodney Barnes.
- Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Dee Bradley Baker (Captain Rex) talk The Clone Wars at 3:30 pm on the Main Stage, with A Star Wars Duo: Snips & Rex.
- Agatha All Along panel with stars Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke, with showrunner Jac Shaeffer, 4:30 pm in Constitution Hall. Newly announced details

Saturday, August 24
- English set decorator Roger Christian won a production design Academy Award for his work on Star Wars, and returned as a 2nd unit director for Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace. No details have been released yet, but Star Wars and Beyond with Roger Christian takes place in Theatre 6, Room 713, at 11 am.
- From Comics to Kung Fu: A Marvelous Spotlight with Simu Liu has the star sharing his journey from fan to star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings at 11:30 am on the Main Stage.
- Next up on the Main Stage is Rosario Dawson, star of Ahsoka, at 12:30 pm.
- Comic book writers and illustrators Jed Mackay, Ryan Stegman, Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Marcus To all discuss X-Men Universe 2024, 3 pm in Theatre 6, Room 713.
- She’s found on Disney+, so this qualifies: The Tortured Swifties Department: Navigating 18 Years of Taylor Swift, 3 pm in Theatre 4, a discussion of all eleven eras of her career.
- Activities:

- Exploring the Way with Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, and Temuera Morrison hits the Main Stage at 10:30 am.
- The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett director discussion at Spotlight on Bryce Dallas Howard, 11:30 am on the Main Stage.
- A Galaxy Far, Far Away with Creators Right Here in Toronto – Take a Deep Dive into Star Wars: Outlaws with the Development Team of Ubisoft Toronto might take the cake for the longest panel name at this year’s Fan Expo Canada. But after a look at the making of, from gameplay mechanics to storytelling, the crew will share “an exclusive look at what’s coming next” for the game. Electronics Playground host Victor Lucas moderates, 11:45 am in Theatre 2.
- Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Gerry Duggan, and Marc Guggenheim discuss their craft in Marvel Comics Writers Assemble!, 12 pm in Theatre 6, Room 713.
- Wildcat Reunion: A Nerdy Class with Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu! sees those two stars sharing “insights and memories from the Wildcats’ world,” 12:30 pm on the Main Stage.
- See frequent a Disney guest voice in The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Spotlight on Danny Trejo, 1:30 pm on the Main Stage.
- Aunt May is in Theatre 2, Room 206 at 1:45 pm, for Marisa Tomei: From Vinny to Spider-Man – Acting Odyssey.
- You might know Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Captain Carson Teva in the Star Wars world, but he’s joining the cast of Murdoch Mysteries for season 18. Celebrating 300 Episodes of Murdoch Mysteries and Everything Yet to Come at 2:45 pm in Theatre 2 will feature Yannick Bisson, Shanice Banton, and an unnamed new cast member, presumably Paul.
- The Many Characters of Alan Tudyk at 3:30 pm, Main Stage, features Disney’s current guaranteed feature film credit.
- At 3:45 pm in Theatre 2, A Seasoned Warrior: Meet Gina Carano.
- Olaf and LeFou discussion with Summertime Spotlight with Josh Gad, 4:30 pm on the Main Stage. Will we get any info on the upcoming film Shrunk, which sees Josh as Wayne Szalinski’s (Rick Moranis) son?

Between the retailers, artist’s alley, and comic creators, there’s endless opportunities to find a new treasure for your collection.
But you’ll also definitely want to check out the Disney+ booth to see what they’re showing this year. Last year, we saw props from Ahsoka. (The show also has representation from studios Paramount Pictures, Amazon Prime, and Warner Bros. and streamers Paramount+ and Mubi.) Hasbro and RSVLTS are also must sees, the latter being at the Toronto show for their first time.
And of course, the 501st Battalion always puts on an impressive display.
