Disney Channel “Ready Or Not” Stars Reuniting at Fan Expo Canada

For 65 episodes, Busy and Amanda navigated grade six through nine, as they grew up in suburban Canada. This teenage drama aired on Disney Channel from 1996 to 2000, having debuted in 1993 on Canada’s Global Television.

It didn’t shy away from tough topics, rarely seen on kids’ television at the time, like homophobia, interracial relationships, consent, and divorce. Their nuanced approach and the fact it was female-led, Ready or Not has developed a cult following.

Fans of the show can rejoice: it’s getting a bit of love from a wider audience.

At Fan Expo Canada on Friday, Canadian clothing brand Retrokid_TO will be launching a line of licensed Ready or Not clothing. Stars Laura Bertram and Lani Billard are doing a reunion panel from 4 to 5 pm, in South Hall room 701A, before immediately heading to the Retrokid booth for an appearance until 7 pm.

Then over the weekend, there’ll be four more chances to meet them: 11 am to 1:30 pm and 2:30 to 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday. Autographs and selfies will cost $90 at the booth, or are free with purchase of $120 of Ready or Not x Retrokid merch.

Retrokid will also be launching full-size replicas of Molly, the dolly from public television’s The Big Comfy Couch.

In its early years, The Disney Channel aired a variety of Canadian television programs. Imported programs have included Avonlea, Danger Bay, The Edison Twins, Groundling Marsh, Life with Derek, Mr. Young, Naturally Sadie, Under the Umbrella Tree, and recently Holly Hobbie.
