Star Wars #45 Review
Following on from a interesting issue last month, which saw Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca head to the planet of Mon Cala to try to get the Mon Calamari to join the Rebellion, this issue feels much more like a mid-season slow down as so little happens.
The vast majority of this issue sees Luke chatting with his old buddy, Wedge, in the mess hall with Chewbacca and Han Solo, resulting in them drinking lots of milk. On one hand its nice to see the characters relaxing and bonding, but it doesn’t make for the most ground breaking story.
While Leia is playing the politician, meeting with Mon Mothma and Jan Dodonna. Though one of the highlights were the cameos from Hera Syndulla and Zeb Orrelios from the Star Wars Rebels show, which is something I’d love to see more of. I also liked how Princess Leia reacted to “seeing” her father once again, since that came out of nowhere.
Once again the artwork of this series is so jarring, the photorealistic look just looks so odd, especially as Luke Skywalker doesn’t look like Mark Hamill and other characters don’t use that art style.
OVERALL:
As part of a graphic novel, this issue would help continue the main story, but as a single issue, it just doesn’t warrant the price. It’s just a very average issue on a whole.
