Host of Disney+ series “Prop Culture” launching his own series

In May 2020, Disney+ added a new series about the props and wardrobe used in some of the studio’s most beloved films, meeting with the cast and crew who used them. Hosted by film historian and prop collector Dan Lanigan, Prop Culture disappeared from the streamer in May 2023, as part of a debt write off.

The host is now launching his own series, Cinema Relics: Investigations:

Ever wondered what happened to the legendary props and costumes from your favorite movies? Prop collector Dan Lanigan is opening the doors to his massive collection to take you on an unprecedented journey through his incredible collection of Hollywood memorabilia! In this new series, Dan and his expert team will examine some of the most beloved props in cinematic history, uncovering their hidden details, legendary stories, and—most importantly—determining whether they are the real deal or just movie magic.

It also looks like Lanigan may have purchased the rights to the doomed Disney+ series, as he’s been posting clips for five months, including Christopher Lloyd (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Danny Elfman (Jack Skellington, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Bruce Boxleitner (TRON), Gonzo and Dave Goelz (The Muppet Movie), and costume designers Tony Walton (Mary Poppins) and Penny Rose (Pirates of the Caribbean).
