Disney Infinity 3.0 Launch Guide
We aren’t too far away from Disney Infinity 3.0 launching, featuring characters from different Disney properties including Inside Out, Star Wars, Marvel, Frozen, Tron and many more.
Disney Infinity 3.0 launches in Europe on the 27th August, 28th in the UK, 30th in the United States and on September 3rd in Australia. The game is available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. IOS, Android and Steam will follow with later.
There are a few ways to enjoy Disney Infinity 3.0. First off there is the Star Wars Starter Pack which includes the software disc, a interactive base (which is identical to 1.0 & 2.0) and the Twilight of the Republic play set pack which includes the interactive piece (the play set), web code card and two figures, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker. This play set is based on the Prequel Star Wars movies and the Clone Wars TV show.
The Disney Infinity 3.0 software will also be available as a Digital Download at launch on the Xbox Live, Playstation Store and Nintendo’s EShop. This is a great option for existing Infinity players who either don’t want to buy another starter pack or aren’t interested in Star Wars and just want to enjoy the Disney or Marvel side of the game.
To avoid confusion, Disney are only releasing a single Starter Pack this year, so there won’t be a “Disney Originals Toy Box Starter Pack” as we saw in 2.0.
In the UK, Disney are releasing the software disc on its own, allowing freedom for existing players to just buy the software.
Disney are also releasing a special edition bundle on the Playstation 3 & 4, which includes the Rise of the Empire play set pack and Boba Fett figure. Boba Fett is a timed exclusive to Playstation and will be released on its own in January 2016.
To enjoy Disney Infinity 3.0 toy boxes figures, play sets and power discs, existing 2.0 or 1.0 players will have to upgrade their software, either via a starter pack or digital download.
There are plenty of different play sets to enjoy in 3.0, these play sets offer additional gameplay with between 5 and 10 hours of entertainment. Also all Star Wars characters can be used within any Star Wars play sets to offer additional value.
Twilight of the Republic
Inside Out
Rise Of The Empire (Launches with the Playstation Exclusive bundle, will be available end of September to everyone else)
Disney have announced that there will be more play sets to come for Disney Infinity 3.0, in December Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released and in the spring we will see the Marvel Battlefront play set release. Disney have also said more play sets will be announced later. If you are on a budget, I would recommend picking up these play sets rather than additional figures or power discs.
Additional characters are also available at launch,
Disney characters include Olaf, Mulan, Sam Flynn, Quorra, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, these can only be used within the Toy Box and Expansion games. While Inside Out characters include Fear, Disgust and Sadness, can also be used within the Inside Out play set.
There are also many Star Wars characters released at launch including Yoda and Obi Wan plus Rebels characters Zeb, Ezra, Kanan and Sabine. These characters can be used within the Toy Box, Expansion games and Star Wars play sets.
In the United States, some figures are timed exclusive to some stores including
- Kanan – Walmart
- Sabine – Target
- Fear – Amazon
- Mulan – Best Buy
- Ezra – Toys R Us
- Zeb – Gamestop
In September, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Han Solo will also be released to tie in with the release of the Rise of the Empire play set.
More characters are to come after launch including Marvel’s Hulkbuster & Ultron, The Good Dinosaur’s Spot, Zootopia’s Judy and Nick plus much more.
Disney have made a slight adjustment to Power Discs as there will be no more blind bags but instead they will be sold in packs of four. They will also be spread out throughout 3.0 with 2 sets of Star Wars power discs and Tomorrowland set coming out at launch, with more to come later.
Disney are also launching two new Expansion games which allow all characters from 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 to have structured play. There is Takeover (offered as a pre-order bonus) which is a battle environment and Speedway which is a unique karting experience. These are sold separately.
All previous characters from 1.0 and 2.0 like Anna, Elsa, Mr Incredible, Spider-Man, Iron Man and all the power discs from the first two games are fully compatible with 3.0. Play set pieces and Toy Box Game Discs from previous games will unlock those toys in 3.0, but the actual games won’t be included in 3.0.
