Wolverine 3 Heads into R Rated Production
It has been confirmed Wolverine 3 will be rated R in US cinemas and has also began production.
After the return of Wolvie in X-Men: Apocalypse, Hugh Jackman will appear as Weapon X one last time, in what is rumoured to be loosely based on Mark Millar’s comic run, Old Man Logan, having played the character since 2000’s X-Men.
X-Men producer Simon Kinberg confirmed the news while doing the press rounds for Apocalypse, but was more cagey on other details.
“I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.” said Kinberg
The film will be directed by The Wolverine helmer James Mangold and will co-star Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, and Eriq Lasalle. Wolverine 3 will be in theaters March 3, 2017.
