Disney LongBox Reviews: Disney Mickey Mouse Shorts #3
The mini series continues with even more adaptations of the beloved 2013 Mickey Mouse shorts. In today’s issue we will be covering Mickey facing off against a zombiefied Goofy, losing his ears while going out on a date, helping Goofy with his sleepwalking habits, getting a career started as a gondola in Venice and finally facing off against Peg Leg Pete in a wrestling match.
GHOUL FRIEND
Mickey is taking a drive out in the country as his car suddenly stops in the middle of nowhere, he tries tightening the radiator cap but his tools are too small. After an encounter with a squirrel, poor Mickey spots a zombie and frantically tries to run away from it leading to comedic hijinks throughout this spooky adventure. This entire story is written in rhyme so be sure to keep your eye open.
BAD EAR DAY
Mickey forgets about a date with Minnie and tries to rush preparing himself for it. During his brushing, his ears gain lives of their own and try to escape from Mickey. Mickey frantically searches for them throughout town leading to a encounter against two hockey teams as he tries getting his ears before it’s too late. This comic adaptation really doesn’t work in print form sadly since this story MUST be experienced in its animated form to get more of the jokes.
SLEEPWALKIN
Goofy asks Mickey to come over to his house so he could watch over him due to his recent sleepwalking habits. Mickey underestimates how bad it is as Goofy dreams of racing in a triathlon as he jogs throughout the entire city as Mickey tries to wake him up before Goofy ends up in danger to the best of his skills. This adventure is quite a fun one due to all the slapstick involved.
O SOLE MINNIE
Mickey takes up a job as a gondola paddler in the romantic city of Venice, Italy as he discovers a beautiful young waitress during one of his outings. Mickey tries his best to gain her attention but various disturbances such as a hippo customer or a large singing whale keeps him from reaching his goal. Mickey is not one to give up so easily so he tries again and again to get the hand of the lovely young maiden.
TAPPED OUT
Mickey, Donald and Goofy are watching a wrestling match as Pete defeats every wrestler that dares challenge him until Goofy manages to get Mickey involved in a match as the poor Mouse tries his best to escape bodily harm from the hulking Pete. Only a side of nachos can save the day now, don’t believe me ? Read the tale to find out how it does save the day.
