The Disney Collector’s Time Capsule: Mulan
Disney releases so many amazing products each month that we often forget about collectibles from the past. I thought it would be fun to take a look at some items that we may actually love to own but didn’t know existed. Using the eBay sold listings function, let’s see what treasures were snatched up during the past month.
Have you heard about the next Disney movie getting the live-action treatment? Well if you haven’t, here’s a hint: This week’s theme is Mulan.
I actually really love the movie Mulan, so I thought I’d share two pictures from part of my Mulan collection (and yes, many of these items were purchased from eBay!):
The first item I found interesting in the sold eBay listings is a rare promotional stamp chop given only to the cast and crew who worked on the film. Made out of carved wood, it is modeled after the seals traditionally used in China. It is very detailed, featuring Mulan riding Khan through swirling clouds that look just like the ones used in Chinese paintings. Though a great decorative piece, this stamp is functional as well, as there is even the Mulan movie logo stamp on the bottom. The bidding for this unique item sold for $43.32.

In need of some positivity and luck? Say “ni hao” to Mulan’s grandmother and lucky cricket! Grandma Fa smiles as she holds a cage containing Cri-kee. Both of them are lovable characters that are always on Mulan’s side and want her to succeed. I really enjoy collecting items featuring side characters. If finding items of these types of characters weren’t hard enough, this WDCC figure is a limited edition of only 500 pieces. This rare collectible sold for $199.

Mulan may not be considered a princess but definitely looks the part. The Film Premier Edition Imperial Beauty Mulan doll wears a stunning red and gold Chinese style gown, fashions a phoenix headpiece, and even adorns the emperor’s crest that was given to her as a gift for saving China. The box art is amazing as well, featuring a popup cutout of Mulan applying makeup in her home. This beautiful doll could have been yours for $26.
