On your mark, get set, runDisney

I can still remember how nervous I was to see if I would actually be able to get everyone registered for the race. Registration was open at noon, I had just put on a movie for my son, my daughter was napping. I was ready to master the registration process, as I have heard horror stories of the races being sold out and only some family members getting in…

IT’S OPEN and GO! – in about 8 minutes or less I was able to register two adults for the half marathon, my son for the 200 meter dash and my daughter for the diaper dash. In about 30 minutes the races were all sold out, even the kid’s races. How did I do it? I stayed calm- I have my credit card number memorized and I had a list of everyone’s birth dates just in case I forgot them at the last minute 😉  Do NOT worry about your proof of time, you have plenty of time to provide that information – after registration.

I’ve  run quite a few half marathons – 6 as of right now and I am currently training for my first marathon to take place in October. So, why did I choose runDisney? It looks so glamorous with the fireworks, the characters and let’s not forget the BLING! I am so excited to earn one of those medals- I’ve had this on my bucket list for several years

I’m in love with running, I’m a runner. I love the idea of runcations and I wanted to take my children to Disney World. My husband visited Disney once briefly and is excited to go as a family when the park is decorated for Christmas. This will be Maxwell’s second visit, he is 4 years old and Charlotte is currently 6 months old so we have to teach her to crawl…She loves the sound of her brother’s voice but she crawls backwards so, Maxwell is telling her she probably won’t win the race, ha!

Let’s not forget another awesome aspect of runDisney – costumes! My husband and I have not decided which couple we are going to be but we will run the half marathon side by side as a couple. Maxwell’s favorite characters change so I am not going to nail down his costume until the fall, but I have a vision of Charlotte in something ‘Minnie’.

The countdown is on: 122 days. I have a heavy race calendar between now and then, need to encourage my husband to run a little more, decide on Maxwell’s costume and teach Charlotte to crawl forward. Piece of cake, right?

Our family runs together frequently, whether I am pushing both kids in the double, training with my running group or racing on a weekend. We run for health, fun and memories! #runDisney

This is our family: Me pushing past Tim by just a second (wheel), Charlotte screaming and Maxwell was cheering.
