Run Princess Run! #runDisney #training

It’s registration day for the runDisney Princess Half Marathon weekend! – you better clear your calendar so you don’t miss out on the race!

For everyone else who is already signed up for the Wine & Dine – have you started training yet? We are just about 16/17 weeks out from the race (116 days!) so it’s time to lace up your running shoes and get out there. I have started my marathon training plan3 weeks ago and so I will be in recovery when the Wine & Dine rolls around. My goal has me hitting about 30-40 miles per week for marathon training.

When I ran my first half marathon I did 5 days of running averaging 25-30 miles per week, my longest run was 10 miles. I saved the 13.1 for the finish line, because you want to feel that bling around your neck after all of those miles. And, I’ve heard/seen that the runDisney bling is well worth it!

A few years ago a friend of mine posted her photo that she had completed the princess half marathon and the bling was a crown, immediately I wanted that medal! So far I haven’t been able to make it to the Princess half marathon- the timing is just off for me and my race calendar.

Our family is excited to do the Wine & Dine together and experience Walt Disney World decorated for Christmas. As a runner I am interested to see if runDisney lives up to its hype and of course the high registration fees. I hear it is unlike any race- some folks run it for their love of Disney but I am running it for my love of running. And I want to see what the experience is like for a runner to runDisney. I already know my kiddos will love it.

So let’s get training: run first, costumes later.

Great post!! I am signed up for the W&D and it is my first race EVER! I am a little nervous, but excited. Any advice?

  • DO you have a training plan in place? I suggest joining a local running group if you have one in your area, it makes such a difference and running with people of different paces will help you find your best pace.

  • Do you have a training plan? I think that the most important thing is training so that you can run the race at an enjoyable pace. I’ve run many half marathons but this will be my first runDisney race. And I am looking forward to the character stops- but still want to be aware of my time
