Details On Medals & Keyblade Upgrades In Kingdom Hearts Unchained X

In the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, there was some new details on the medal and Keyblade upgrade systems on the forthcoming mobile game, Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ.   The main focus of the game is to experience the ‘Keyblade War’ which is mentioned in the game series and has been optimised for smartphones, so the battles work better for shorter play sessions.

Here are some screenshots, scans and a translation from the Famitsu Weekly which have come from goldpanner via KH13.com.

Become stronger along with your Keyblade!

Keyblades have several slots open. The setup involves filling them with medals to open the possibility to use attacks and strong abilities. Also, strengthen the Keyblade and you will gain benefits that connect to your fighting power, such as increasing the number of slots. You can’t skip this element of gameplay if you want to overcome battles.

Unleash the medal abilities in battle!
In the battles in this title, you can unleash the techniques of the medals on your Keyblade one after another simply by tapping or holding the screen. Fulfill the requirements, and by holding and flicking the medal in the bottom left of the screen, you can set off powerful abilities such as the ones shown here. If you use a technique with an attribute that is effective against the enemy’s attribute there will be even more of an impact.

I’m really looking forward to having a new Disney themed game on my iPad to get into and this will hopefully tied us over until Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out.  And having many classic characters like Jack Skellington, Beast, Donald Duck and Goofy involved is sure to make this a big hit.

Unchained X will be a free to play game, with additional in-app purchases available and it is due out on Android and IOS, however no release date has been confirmed by Disney or Square Enix.

Are you excited about a mobile version of Kingdom Hearts?

So you can download the apk but it’s only in Japanese right now. I have only seen 5 world’s sp far. The game kinda feels like a mix between kingdom hearts chain of memories and the original. The game focuses on medals that you upgrade to increase defense and attack. It’s also a temp power type deal. Power beats speed, speed beats magic, and magic beats power. Pretty fun so far but the only downside is that I don’t speak japanese.
