Mary Poppins Sequel Coming Soon

Disney continue to reboot their original classic movies with live-action versions and according to Variety, Disney is developing a new “Mary Poppins” musical with Rob Marshall set to direct.  Rob Marshall previously worked on “Into the Woods” and will be joined by producers John DeLuca and Marc Platt, who also worked on “Into the Woods,”.

According to the report, the movie will be a sequel and taken from other P.I. Travers’ children books, with it taking place in London 20 years after the original and follow the Banks family.

Following the success of “Saving Mr Banks” which told the story of making the Mary Poppins movie, it would appear Disney have gained support from Travers’ estate to make the movie.

The report states that songwriting duo of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will compose original songs and a new score. David Magee will write the screenplay.
