Walt Disney Comics & Stories #724 Review

IDW Publishing have released their latest Walt Disney Comics & Stories issue #724 and it features two great stories.  The main story of this issue is “The Search for the Zodiac Stone – Chapter 4 of 12: The Greater Circus Mystery” which is from Italian Topolino 1783, 1990 and the second story is called “The Duck Who Came to Dinner” from Danish Anders And & Co 42/2011, both of which are new to the USA.

The Greater Circus Mystery is one of my favourite stories from the Zodiac Stone arc, Mickey & Goofy track down one of the stones to a circus and once again Pegleg Pete gets involved and chaos follows with Elephants, Tigers and Lions.  I really enjoyed the interaction between Mickey and Uncle Scrooge, especially trying to keep the time machine away from him, since they know he won’t be able to resist abusing it.  A really strong story that stands out on its own.

With the 75th anniversary of the comic book, there is a nice page showing off some of the great comic book covers from times gone by.  It makes sense to make the most of this huge back-catalog of issues.

The Duck Who Came to Dinner is another great story featuring Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge and the nephews, Scrooge is trying to share his wisdom with his family on saving money, which they aren’t happy to receive his thoughts and try their best to get out of it.

This comic also features a great variant cover featuring Goofy and the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion, so for Disney fans this is the version, I’d recommend picking up.

Issue 724 is a really enjoyable issue with two very good stories that I’m sure every Disney fan will enjoy, this is one of the highlights of the month with different Disney characters.
