Walt Disney Comics & Stories #725 Review

Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories #725 features 3 stories from different eras and many well known Disney characters like Donald Duck, Chip and Dale.  The main story of this issue continues the Search for the Zodiac Stone : Chapter 6 of 12: Mode Star from Italian Topolino 1784, 1990, which is new to the USA.  This is part of a larger story arc with the main characters trying to track down the Zodiac stones, but no previous stories really tie too much into it.  The main story sees Aliens take one of the stones from a famous fashion designer and Donald tries to get the stone back, resulting in some rather amusing comedy.   When this story arc kicked off months ago, I did wonder if the main story would become repetative but the writers have done a great job in mixing up the stories to feel unique and this story is certainly unique.

Dinner Time from Silly Symphonies Sunday comic strip, 1933 is a quick one page story that shows some the history behind the comic book series, while it might be underwhelming for younger readers, older Disney fans will enjoy these little historic stories.

Defective Detectives from Chip ‘n’ Dale 11, 1957 is a highlight of this comic book as I’ll be honest, these are my favourite Disney characters and this story is almost a prequel to Rescue Rangers as the chipmunks become private eyes.  It’s also interesting to see Brer Fox and Bear included in this story, these characters are more known from “Splash Mountain” than “Songs of the South”, but I was really happy to see these characters in this story.

Another really enjoyable comic book featuring 2 fun stories that are very different and with so many different classic characters involved, I think this is a great read for young and old Disney fans.
