Mickey & Donald’s Christmas Parade Comic Book Review
IDW Publishing have released a new bumper Christmas comic book special called Mickey & Donald’s Christmas Parade and includes 5 Christmas themed stories that are all new to the USA.
“Blight Before Christmas” from Italian Almanacco Topolino 108, 1965, is the feature story from this comic book and features all our favourite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck and many more. Uncle Scrooge decides to put on a Christmas meal for his friends, with the mind of using his friends to do up his house. However this interferes with criminal plans that the Beagle Boys and Pegleg Pete had, leading to lots of great adventures and a really enjoyable read. It was really nice to see all the different characters intermingling in one good story.
“Meter Your Maker” from Italian Topolino 2299, 1999, is a quick one page story that sums up Uncle Scrooge perfectly and gave me a good chuckle.
This bumper edition includes a second longer story called “Christmas Clubbing” from Dutch Donald Duck 52/2002, which sees Daisy Duck put on a Christmas meal and asks for assistance from Donald and Gladstone Gander, which doesn’t go down well and the two Ducks continue to fight for the attention of Daisy. Another great feel good Christmas story.
We get another single page story called “High-Tech Herbert” from Dutch Donald Duck 1/2013, is another quick funny one liner, which perfectly sums up kids today with Technology.
And the final story from this bumper edition is called “The Sinister Space Santa” from Italian Topolino 2730, 2008, this is another longer story and is very different from everything else as it involves Aliens and Super Goofy, which works well in this collection, having some variety and involving a superhero and evil space criminals was a nice change of pace and I loved the gag at the end.
The Christmas Parade comic book is a perfect stocking filler for any Disney fan this Christmas and a great holiday themed comic book that is packed with classic Disney magic.
