Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories #726 Comic Book Review

Issue #726 of Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories features two stories that are both brand new to the US, including the sixth part of the Zodiac Stone and a great Oswald story called “Just Like Magic”.  There is also a great Christmas themed theme park variant cover featuring Donald and the nephews in Main Street, which I love.

The main story is called “The Search for the Zodiac Stone Chapter 6 of 12: Ah… Sunny Hawaii!” from Italian Topolino 1785, 1990.   While the story is part of a larger arc, this is still a stand alone story with Donald Duck and nephews enjoying a vacation in Hawaii, with Donald trying to win a competition to date a model, only for things to not quite work out correctly.  It’s been interesting to see how different these Zodiac stories have been from each other and the search for stones aren’t massively connected, which works out best with a arc spreading over a year.  I always enjoy any story involving Hawaii and seeing Donald Duck do battle with a shark was funny.  Another great story involving Donald Duck with cameos from Uncle Scrooge and Mickey Mouse.

And the second story is “Just Like Magic” from Norwegian Walt Disney’s Julehefte 11, 2011 is the highlight of this comic book as we get to see Oswald and friends in action and I loved it, I’ll be honest, I know very little about Oswald and having some stories included in these comic books is something I want to see a lot more of.   Oswald is trying to pass himself off as a Magician to get a Christmas day dinner, which obviously doesn’t go according to plan.

Another strong comic book from IDW Publishing, two very strong stories and any addition of Oswald is a big plus to me.
