Best Of 2015 – Theme Park

As we head into 2016, the DisKingdom team took some time to look back on some of their favourite moments of 2015 from the world of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars.

Here are some of our favourite moments from the Theme Parks in 2015 :

Roger – There was some huge news in 2015 coming from the D23 Expo with regards to Star Wars coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland, but my moment was much more personal, following a sneaky last minute trip to Disneyland Paris, getting to experience the excellent Ratatouille attraction for the first time, the effects are unlike anything I’ve seen before, the cart moves in a unique way and I didn’t want it to end.  The theming around the attraction is also very well done and feels very much the new heart of the Walt Disney Studios Park.

Chase – One time, Walt Disney said “Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.” Who would’ve thought that nearly 60 years after Disneyland Park opening in 1955, that Walt’s vision would still be celebrated throughout the world. This year, Disneyland celebrated their 60th anniversary, with a crystalized castle, and blue and silver as far as the eyes could see.. oh also an incredible new Disney firework show all taking place at the Disneyland Park. While this may not be one theme park moment, it sure is a special thing to remember in my heart.

Kimberly – The best theme park moment for me was watching the Paint the Night parade for the first time. It was like watching the Main Street Electrical Parade but 100x better. The Imagineers did an excellent job implementing new technology and combining it with a classic parade. I also really liked how parts of the old Electrical parade song were mixed in with the new song.

Amber – Hyper. Space. Mountain. From its initial triumphant fanfare through its whirlwind of a galactic battle, there’s nothing else that pulls out your inner Rebel Alliance pilot quite like this breathtaking roller coaster ode to the Star Wars universe. With nods to the films for the fans and an exhilarating ride for those not in the know, Hyperspace Mountain is a must for anyone and everyone visiting the Disney parks. Rarely have I been on a ride that elicits so much cheering from so many of its riders as it pulls to a stop at its finish.
