Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Packs by Jakks Pacific (Review)

Earlier this month, I shared with you all a photo shoot at The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World with some of the Jakks Pacfic Disney Tsum Tsum, which included a bunch of the Mystery Stack Packs, seen above. This set of ten designs, each complete with a Medium Figure and a Stackable Accessory, were released the beginning of the year (first in Target and then other retail locations, MSRP $2.99) and are packaged “blind”, meaning you don’t know which designs you will get when you purchase it.

Each case of twenty four (24) packs includes three (3) each of seven of the designs, with only one (1) each of the “rare” designs: Lucky, Sebastian, and Dale. Here is a closer look at all of the designs.

Each accessory can be used in tandem with the vinyl Tsum Tsum figures (also by Jakks Pacific, available in varying sizes of Small, Medium, and Large), and can accommodate a multitude of different stacking combinations. Here is a pic of all of the Mystery Stack Pack designs with a bunch of those other Tsum Tsums.

For me, I like the ease of collecting the vinyl Tsum Tsum figures over the plush. They are more detailed, smaller so I can display them easier, and… most importantly… more economical. The Mystery Stack Packs are $2.99 each, and if you are skilled in feeling out the packs in store, you won’t have to buy a lot of duplicates. The regular 3pks (each containing a Small, Medium, and Large) are $4.99, with 9pks costing $14.99. Now, some of the designs are only available in packs where you will have to get a double or two. However, to complete Series 1 is comparatively cheaper than the $5.95 each plush, which seems like more and more are getting released each week (I have a feeling the plush will get over-saturated like Vinylmation and have a quick decline eventually). However, if Jakks Pacific spaces the vinyl figures out enough and keep the price point low, I can see this series becoming popular for at least a few series. With them teasing Pixar characters in the packaging, but not having them in Series 1, my hope is that Series 2 bring those characters, as well as a Chip to go with Dale.

Do you collect the Jackks Pacific Disney Tsum Tsum? How big is your collection? Let us know!

  • This was a phenomenal review. I just bought my first three pack today but my son and I have collected all of the blind bags already. He’s still working on earning his (potty training prizes, lol. I just cut them open to double check the contents then circle the character inside and tape them back shut), I however got mine straight away. 😉 We were at Walmart and they just happened to have a set with three I wanted in the exact sizes I wanted so I picked them up. We have bought some of the plushes but I’ve been strict, only on sale, only the mini size, and only ones we really want. Otherwise these things take over your house in the blink of an eye. But you’re right, you could have every vinyl set and still never fill a shoe box. So it’s easy to say yes to those.

I do wonder where you’re finding the 9 packs for only $10! They’re $15 at all my local Target and Walmart stores. I’ve yet to buy any, but I guess I’ll keep looking. I’d love to get them for that lower price.

  • Series 1 my favorite is Winnie the pooh.?

  • Did you know that there is keyrings and I lost Stitch of my collection so I looked around the house and I could not find stitch so I told my sister to help me so she said yes but both of us can not find stitch so we both looked in the toy box Stitch was still not there so that is it .
