No New Star Wars Game For You!

Despite Battlefront having released towards the end of this past year, fans are looking to the future for the next game from the franchise. With rumors circulating of a revival of 1313, an Uncharted inspired game starring Boba Fett, and the recently announced DLC series coming to Battlefront, fans will be getting more from a Galaxy far far away to experience. Perhaps one of the more mysterious games on the horizon is Visceral Games untitled Star Wars game.

Recently EA CFO Blake Jorgensen told IGN that the game was still a “few years away.” He went on to elaborate about their downsizing of title releases to focus on “less than 15 major SKUs.” That was not all he had to say about the business, “we are investing in some action-based SKUs by bringing people like Jade Raymond and Amy Hennig into our organization to help build those. And those are obviously a few years out in our SKU plan.”

It is not a guarantee but implying that the new Star Wars game will be action orientated fits in line with what Raymond and Henning have worked on before. For those that do not know, Amy Hennig wrote and directed the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver set of games as well as the final game in the Legacy of Kain series, Defiance. More recently, she lead the team at Naughty Dog in the directing and writing of the Uncharted series, before departing after Uncharted 4 to join EA and Visceral. Like Amy Henning, Jade Raymond has been in the industry for some time as well. Raymond received her first big break with EA producing the Sims Online and even joined the television network G4 as part time correspondent. Most notably, she was the executive producer for many of the games including Assassin’s Creed 2 and those released by Ubisoft Montreal such as Watch Dogs.

These story driven and cinematic games would be a perfect fit for this new era of the franchise. With everything from the prequel trilogy to the new movies and all the in-between, the possibilities are endless. Could we see a game focused on the rise of Poe Dameron?Maybe a game centered around on the Rebel cast? Or could this be the first newly canonized tale of the Old Republic?
