According to Sources, he would possibly be a co-star to Emily Blunt who is also in talks with Disney for the role of Mary Poppins. Miranda is being considered for the role of “Jack”, a Lamplighter who will be similar to Dick van Dyke’s role as “Bert” from the original Mary Poppins film.

The film will take place in Depression era london which is interesting to note that this is time period where the books were taking place originally.

Considering Disney already has a good connection with Miranda, this may be a good move for both parties. Miranda composed the new Cantina theme for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and working on music for Disney’s upcoming Princess movie, “Moana.” It may even be possible to assume he would help with music for the Mary Poppins sequel if given the opportunity.

What do you think about Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt taking on these roles?
