The Good Dinosaur Blu-Ray Review!

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAThe Good Dinosaur released today on Blu-Ray and it is packed with features that are more than good! The basic Blu-Ray combo pack is bundled with the Blu-Ray, DVD, and a code for a Digital HD copy of the film (If your picking up the film at Best Buy you can get a copy with a Limited Edition Lenticular Card).

Once you pop the disc into your Blu-Ray player the main menu shows off the best feature of the film and that is the jaw dropping realistic landscapes. The menu scrolls between picturesque mountain ranges to a babbling brook with water that looks so real it feels as if you can reach into your television and cool off in it.

The Blu-Ray is also not lacking when it comes to bonus extras including the short film that was shown in the theatrical release, SANJAY’S SUPER TEAM. The extras also consist of the following.

  • THE FILMMAKERS’ JOURNEY- Director Peter Sohn and team share their experience of making the movie.
  • HIDE AND SEEK- Watch a short animated promotional clip.
  • TRUE LIES ABOUT DINOSAURS- Learn what separates the movie’s dinosaurs from the real ones.
  • RECYCLOSAURUS- The crew competes to create the best dinosaur ever…from discarded items!
  • EVERY PART OF THE DINOSAUR- Explore the movie’s special animation challenges.
  • FOLLOWING THE T-REX TRAIL- Meet the family who inspired the T-Rex ranchers.
  • DELETED SCENES WITH INTROS- View scenes developed for previous versions of the movie.
  • The Blu-Ray also includes 3 different theatrical trailers for the film.

Out of all of these different bonus features by far my favorite was the Recyclosaurus extra. Recyclosaurus follows the different teams that brought the film to life pitted against each other to create a dinosaur inspired piece of art made from discarded items. It was fun to see how creative the team over at Pixar can be and we also get a quick look of all the different events they hold between and during film projects including Halloween Costume Contests!

The film itself follows an epic adventure between an Apatosaurus named Arlo and his human companion Spot through a harsh and beautiful landscape. The film reminds me of classic Disney stories like The Lion King and it was a very emotionally driven story with very limited dialogue. Most of the story is pushed forward through character facial expressions and body language. All in all the Blu-Ray is a must own for any Disney Pixar fan! AAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I love the movie. I cried at least twice. It does have the “Lion King” feel with a touch of “Land Before Time”. Excellent movie!

I was definitely holding back tears during the emotional moments of this movie. It seems like a prerequisite for Pixar to have tear jerking moments in their films now lol.
