Disney Pixar Inside Out Oscar Success!

This year, Disney was extremely successful with Oscar nominations.   Star Wars : The Force Awakens received nominations in 5 different categories; Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Original Score and Film Editing.

Unfortunately during Sunday’s awards ceremony the latest Star Wars movie did not receive any awards in it’s chosen categories. However the 2016 Oscar’s featured a special appearance from three of the movies most beloved characters which really was an exciting moment for Disney and Star Wars fans. C3PO, R2D2 and BB8 all took to the stage leaving the audience in awe of the fabulous surprise. It wasn’t the first time that R2D2 and C3PO have stepped on the Oscar’s stage however it was all new for BB8 since their introduction in Star Wars : The Force Awakens.

Cinderella was nominated for best costume design after it’s beautiful creation for Cinderella’s blue dress for the ball, Swarovski inspired butterfly glass slippers, Cinderella’s stunning floral wedding dress, the fairy godmothers white bouffant dress and not to mention the extravagant colourful masterpieces worn by Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella. The Oscar for this category was taken home by Mad Max: Fury Road.

glass slippersAlthough Bear Story won the award for best animated short film, Sanjay’s Super Team was up for nomination. The Pixar short was shown before The Good Dinosaur which is one of the few Disney Pixar movies in history not to receive a nomination for an Oscar alongside Cars 2 and Monsters University.

And of course Disney’s biggest success this year was the Pixar hit, Inside Out which won Best Animated Feature Film. Following the box office success and continued sales in merchandise through all Disney retailers it was no surprise that the cinematic psychological story won the award. The concept was so original, Inside Out has been used in mental health teachings to describe emotions.

After Inside Out’s Oscar success it appears that Disney has had another great year at the Oscar’s.
