Zootopia Pushes Disney Past The $1 Billion Box Office Mark For 2016

zootropolis_4This week, Disney passed over the $1 Billion mark for its International Box Office takings in 2016, following the release of Zootropolis in the UK.

This is the earliest point that Disney have passed the Billion Dollar mark in a year, and with both Zootopia and Star Wars: The Force Awakens being massive hits this year, this number will continue to grow with lots of releases scheduled for the year including Marvel Civil War, The Jungle Book, Alice Through The Looking Glass, Moana, Finding Dory, The BFG, Doctor Strange and Star Wars: Rogue One.

So far,  Zootopia has brought in $633 million since its international release, with the movie becoming the second-largest movie to open in Russia and the second highest grossing movie from Disney in China.  Zootopia has yet to launch in Japan and “The Force Awakens” has brought in $447 million this year from foreign markets alone.
