Disney Movies VR Trademarks Discovered

There has been a lot of talk about Virtual Reality lately with announcements of devices including PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift, and it looks like Disney is planning on getting in on the new VR scene.  According to some recent trademark applications discovered by StitchKingdom, Disney is planning on streaming virtual reality games, movies and videos through an online service called “Disney Movies VR”.

There have been two trademark applications made have been published by the US Patent and Trademark Office to date: serial number 86957194 is ‘computer software and downloadable applications for delivering, accessing, downloading, streaming, playing, browsing, and viewing virtual reality and digital content;’ and serial number 86957196 is for ‘streaming and delivery of virtual reality and digital content.’

There hasn’t been an official announcement by Disney regarding their Virtual Reality content, but there has been lots of talk about content such as video games as EA have announced there will be a special Star Wars Battlefront coming to PlayStation VR and another Star Wars VR experience was recently shown off.

Also recently Disney recently invested in Jaunt, which is a company that produces a motion picture-quality 360 degree video camera that was recently used for the Google Cardboard Star Wars The Force Awakens experience.

With Virtual Reality set to hit households, Disney do look like they are getting ready to be involved.
