TTPM Spring Showcase: Disney Highlights & More!
This past week, I attended the TTPM (Toys, Tots, Pets, & More) Spring Showcase down in NYC. There, I got to meet with several companies showcasing some great Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars toys that will be out for the Spring and Summer retail seasons. Let’s take a look.
JAKKS Pacific
A favorite collection of mine since last fall has been the Disney Tsum Tsum vinyl figures from JAKKS. On hand with them at the show were selections from Series 1 & 2, including some of the hard to find in retail stores Mystery Stack Packs from Series 2. Tsum Tsum 3-packs sell for $4.99, 9-packs for $14.99, and the Mystery Stack Packs for $2.99 (SRP).
Not on hand were any samples from Series 3, which is due out soon. However, we do have this preview of that series, which also surfaced this past week.
Also at the booth, and being played with a lot by the girls in attendance, were some of the upcoming Disney Princess Little Kingdom makeup sets, ranging from the smaller sets for $6.99 to the Castle Vanity for $24.99 (SRP). I have a feeling these will be very popular with girls this year.
Here is a closer look at the Frozen Coronation Nails set that was given out to attendees.
TOMY
First seen at Toy Fair 2016, TOMY’s line of Zootopia figures, vehicles, Police Station Play Set, and plush have been flying off the shelves. I personally love the design and the character likeness of the figures and plush.
Also on hand that is of note was a look at the upcoming monthly exclusives for TOMY’s Pokemon 20 line. Each month an exclusive rare Pokemon is released in a special plush form and a special figure with clip n’ carry balls. (I reviewed Celebi over at PopVinyls.com back in March.) On display at the event were Jirachi (April, Toys ‘R’ Us), Darkrai (May, Gamestop), Manaphy (June, Toys ‘R’ Us), and Shaymin (July, Toys ‘R’ Us).
Just Play Toys
Just Play had one display two major Disney Junior lines for them this year: Sophia the First and Lion Guard. From role play, dolls and plush to figures, play sets, and even mystery figure packs… there is a bit of something for every kid with these lines.
Also on hand at the Press Conference, but not the booth, are the new Disney Tsum Tsum light-up, talking plush. These plush are already hitting stores (I saw Mickey and Stitch at my local TRU store), and feature light-up cheeks and sounds similar to the ones they make in the Tsum Tsum cartoons and inside the gaming app.
LEGO
Nothing much new was on display from what we saw at Toy Fair 2016, but it was great seeing the LEGO Disney Minifigure collection on display before their official release this weekend on May 1st. I personally am excited about the new LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, so seeing the main built set from that show on display was nice. Also liking the look of the Rey figure build. I might have to pick that one up as well… she should really come with an in scale BB-8 build.
Bandai
One of the more popular booths I was at that day was the Bandai booth, and mainly because of the new Disney-Pixar’s Finding Dory merchandise. From the Swigglefish to the Hatch n’ Heroes to the plush (and more!), this is a very strong line, which we first saw at Toy Fair 2016. I personally want to add what looks to be a life-sized otter plush to my collection… just because.
At the event attendees were gifted with one of the Finding Dory Hatch n’ Heroes. I got Dory. Here is a look at her.
Uncle Milton
First seen at Toy Fair 2016, Uncle Milton’s line of Disney-Pixar’s Finding Dory room decor are sure to be a hit.
Hasbro
Hasbro had a lot of Disney/ Star Wars/ Marvel items on display. Highlights for me included Rey’s Blaster in Nerf form, their new releases with the Disney Princess line, and new dolls from the popular Descendants line.
Jazwares
Jazwares’ popular toy truck line, Chuck & Friends (based on the Adventures of Chuck & Friends TV series) has gotten a super-hero upgrade with the release of the Marvel line. The first wave of trucks, in varying sizes, feature Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Hulk. Expect more characters to roll out in the future.
Playmates
Though not “technically” Disney, at one point Disney owned the right to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I remember taking pictures with them on New York Street back in the olden days of Disney MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios), so I swung by the Playmates booth to take a look at all of the fun action figures, play sets, vehicles, and role play that accompany the release of the new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
Disney Consumer Products
My last stop at the TTPM event was at the Disney Consumer Products booth, where my friend Hilary was there showing off the products that will be appearing in various retailers this spring and summer. Highlights for me included the Finding Dory Tsum Tsum and Dory in Coffee Pot from the upcoming movie, and the Merida Magical Story Skirt.
Well, that’s all of the fun Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars stuff from the floor of TTPM (plus a little more). It’s always fun going to these smaller events where the focus is more personal and you get to spend more time with the products. Thank you to the TTPM crew, as well as all of the company representatives, for making it a fun event.
What are you most excited for that was showcased at TTPM? Sound off below.
