ABC’s Latest Cancellations
Thursday evening was a disappointing day for fans of ABC television: Castle, Agent Carter, The Muppets, and Galavant were all canceled.
With Agent Carter’s constant praise by critics and a cliffhanger of an ending, it comes as a slight shock that the series was canceled. However the viewer numbers have dropped even more this past season. With star, Hayley Atwell, also signed on in a leading role in a new series for ABC titled Conviction, a third season did seem difficult and unlikely.
Another hit on the Marvel front finds the SHIELD spin off series, Marvel’s Most Wanted, no picked up by ABC. Starring, Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, Most Wanted was to focus on the couple ex-SHIELD agents who are on the run with a bounty on their head. The two were pivotal characters of the Agents of SHIELD series, where earlier this season, who departed from the team after a diplomatic incident. It remains unclear if this will allow the two to return to SHIELD.
The Castle news did not take many by surprise. After star Stana Katic, who plays Kate Beckett on the show, announced her departure from the series this year, the question of how Castle could survive without his partner and muse. It seems as though ABC has agreed, with the finale airing this Monday May 16th.
