Star Wars Battlefront Lost Its Campaign Mode Because Of The Force Awakens

Star Wars Battlefront has been wildly criticised for its lack of a single player campaign and during an Investor Day briefing, EA Studios boss Patrick Söderlund explained why it wasn’t included in the game.

“The one thing that we got criticized for was the lack of a single-player campaign”, he said. “It was a conscious decision we made due to time and being able to launch the game side-by-side with the movie (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) that came out to get the strongest possible impact.  Star Wars Battlefront came out [but] we got criticised for the depth and breadth of it. So as we look at why that was, we have to go back and course-correct that for another version if we were ever to build one.”

So EA have confirmed they rushed the game to get it out in time for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and also suggested that next years sequel will have a stronger campaign mode to help improve the player experience.

Söderlund added “I think the team created a really good game based on the premise that we had. I would say the game has done very well for us and reached a very different demographic than a traditional EA game. So from that perspective, it’s a success. Are we happy with the 75 rating? No. Is that something we’re going to cure going forward? Absolutely.”

As a fan of Star Wars Battlefront, it’s good to hear that the team are working on creating a better experience in the future and also could explain why the game has been having constant updates and new DLC because they might have been included had the game been given longer development.

What I don’t understand is why this game can’t be patched upgraded or whatever it takes to course correct the 59.99 i spent this year on this. I don’t wish to wait another 12-18 months then shell out another 59.99. just kind of upset with the whole thing. and somebody needs to create a game with unified online play across all consoles and pc and this will solve server population problems.
