Disney World Closes Down 7 Seas Lagoon Beaches
On June 14th, at approximately 9:16 PM Orange County Police Department responded to a call on a child being dragged into the water by an alligator behind Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This news follows after a tragic weekend in Orlando, and here is what I have for you as of right now.
Police have been searching the body of the 7 Seas Lagoon for an alligator that might have attacked the 2 year old boy, last night they responded to a call, and have been on scene searching for the alligator ever since. The alligator dragged the boy into the water, and Orlando Police Departments own Sheriff Jerry L. Demings said that it is unlikely that the boy is still alive, and that this is a recovery not a rescue mission. The family of 5 was visiting from Nebraska, on a vacation at Disney World.
Alligator trappers have so far caught 4 alligators, but the boy has not yet been found. Sheriff Demings told people at the briefing earlier this morning held at 1:00 AM EST that they will be on scene until the little boy is found.
While we don’t know this for sure, we expect the boat services to be down while they try and locate the boy. We have confirmation that Disney is not letting anyone onto the beaches surrounding 7 Seas Lagoon, and this could be the same for the other Disney beaches such as the one located directly behind Beach Club.
Our thoughts and prayers of the entire staff here at Diskingdom go out to the family involved in this terrible incident. I want to also make a brief mentioning about how the Orange County Sheriff’s Department has gone through so much in the past week, and we are all great of their dedication to serving the Orlando area.
