Two Smoking Areas Removed From The Magic Kingdom

This week, Disney have removed two smoking areas from within the Magic Kingdom and added a new one, right outside the entrance to the park near the Ferryboat dock.  The smoking areas were near Adventureland and near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland.

This move means that there are just two smoking areas left within the Magic Kingdom, which can be found in Frontierland and in-between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus.

Walt Disney World restaurants, shops, theme parks and Resort hotels are smoke-free environments—except for these designated smoking areas.

This is such a bad idea. I don’t know what Disney thinks is going to happen, but when a smoker needs to smoke, if there is no place for them to do it, they will light up wherever they can find a spot. Without an ash tray there, that means that they will either toss their butt to the ground, or try to snuff it and toss it in the trash, which could start a fire. I smoked for many, many years, and I can say that even with the number of smoking locations that the park used to have it was an absolute pain to try to find somewhere to go, but with fewer locations now it will be even worse for them. I understand the reasoning, and I get that it’d be nice to have less smoke floating around the area, but getting rid of smoking locations just makes people more willing to stealth smoke.
